in December! Can you imagine? Well that's where we found ourselves in
We arrived in London Dec. 3 and left on Dec. 24th.
We came along side our good friends Pastor Chris and Karen Lewis of the South Leeds Church of the Nazarene on the British Isles North District. I preached six times at South Leeds, and at Ilkeston Nazarene. It was a joy to work with Youth Worx the local ministry to teens in Leeds and with New Hope Recovery Ministries. God blessed in these special ministry times and we thank God for His presence and power demonstrated over and over again.
Our hosts for the stay were Brian and Judith Hemsworth of the South Leeds church. What a privilege to stay in their lovely home. Judith is the consummate hostess. She gave us the royal treatment and prepared wonderful meals and made me coffee constantly! We so enjoyed Brians charm, wit, and great knowledge of northern England captured in his stories and amazing photographs.
We were able to do some touring in the Leeds area, York, and London. Elizabeth's great highlight was attending the presentation of Handel's Messiah at the Royal Albert Hall in London. 500 voice choir, 4 soloists, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and 5,000 folks listening. It was a stunning performance.
Other sights included, London Eye, Parliament, Big Benn, Buckingham Palace, Westminster, St Pauls Cathedral, two bus tours, one by day and one by night! The other great highlight was visiting John Wesley's Chapel and Home in London. To stand in his prayer room was a deeply moving thing! What a heritage of holiness left by the Wesleys and the Methodist of England.
